Summer Update

I haven't updated in a while. I woke up, it's almost 3am, and I can't sleep. I figure there's no better time to update the blog! :-)

This summer has flown by like no other. Like, I can't even believe that I'm back to work in two weeks. I have been keeping the roads hot between here and Columbus. I have spent a lot of time down there with Robbie this summer...trying to take advantage while I'm out of school. He has come up here a lot too, and he'll actually be here this weekend and the next. I can't wait until he is here all the time!! We are hoping and praying that this job search will not be a long one. We went to the beach in June. It was one of the best trips ever!!! We got some really cool pics on the beach, and I LOVE them! We ate at a lot of cool restaurants and probably gained about ten pounds while we were gone!! It was so nice to just get away with my sweetheart. I am still in awe that this wonderful person is in my life. I have never met someone more amazing and special, and I am so blessed to share my life with him! He is the love of my life, and I look ahead, with great excitement, to our future! :-)

I am having a Thirty One party next Saturday. They have the CUTEST stuff!! Lots of cool monogrammed purses, cool stationary, things for the home, etc. Mom is doing the food for me; we will being having brunch, and I know it will great. I bought the party supplies for it last week, and they are too cute. I am using hot pink! I hope that it will be a fun morning with the girls for all!

I have been working in my classroom the last couple of weeks, and I must say that I like it better than I ever have before. I used fabric on my bulletin boards this year, and I like it MUCH better than using paper. It makes a huge difference in the look of my room. I am working very hard to make my room a true standards based room. I still have a ways to go, but it's definitely getting there. I'm looking forward to getting my class roll, so I can begin putting the kids names on the different things that are labeled. That's always fun. I have been working at the TRC a lot as well, and that's always fun. I am able to use my creative energy there, and I love it! I have made some really cool things for my room there. The staff there is so nice and helpful, and it's always a pleasant experience there. I am trying to get myself back into school mode; I'm actually getting really ready to go back. I really like structure in my life, and in the summer, there is NONE of that! I like having my routine, and the summer doesn't provide that. I'm sure I will miss the summer when I am back in school, but I am hoping for my best year yet with work.

Trent is doing great...growing, growing, growing! He has had a busy and eventful summer...his 1st birthday, lots of pool time, his first haircut, etc. Lots of cool happenings for our little man! We are so blessed to be a part of his precious life and love him so much! He will be walking soon...AHHH! He will be everywhere!

Cheer is going GREAT!!! We have camp next week, and I am SOOOO excited to get our routine. Our squad gets along so well and are really working so hard this year. We are VERY excited about the season and can't wait to bring home FOUR 1st place trophies! :-)

Well, that's it for now. Macy and I are ready to go back to bed!

Random Updates

-I can't seem to stop smiling these days, and I can't seem to cease thanking my Savior for carrying me through these most difficult last three years. Thank you, Lord, for standing firm on Your promises to me! YOU are my everything, and I pray that I will ALWAYS give you all the glory! I have learned so much that I will carry with me for the rest of my life, and I thank you for teaching me those valuable lessons...even in the most difficult of times. Praise You, my sweet Jesus!
-Macy goes to the vet tomorrow for her second round of shots since I have had her. I feel so sorry for her!!
-Lucy is spending the night with me tonight. She has been begging me for two weeks, so we are going to have a slumber party tonight!
-Trent's 1st birthday is rapidly approaching...June 14th!
-I am counting the minutes until I am in Columbus tomorrow. I can't wait to see my sweetheart! It's so hard being away from him, but we have the whole summer ahead that I can be there while I am off from work. I love this boy more than words could ever say!
-We had a great Memorial Day weekend at the lake. Mom, Dad, Brenton, Christa, Robbie, and I had a blast! We just chilled out, fished, went out on the boat, played cards, went shopping, and grilled out! It was so relaxing and much needed for all of us!
-Robbie and I had been shopping in Dick's Sporting Goods a couple of weeks ago, and I had saw a pink tackle box that I wanted, but I didn't get it. Robbie surprised me on Friday when he got to my apartment to leave for the lake...he had bought it for me, so I was decked out this weekend with my pink fishing rod that Daddy bought me and my pink tackle box from Robbie. Hey, you can still be stylish when you are fishing!
-I leave tomorrow for Columbus. I am going to cook dinner tomorrow night when I get there. Robbie's mom and I are going shopping on Friday while he is working. Friday night, Robbie and I are going to buy him some new dress pants for work. Saturday, I am going to Shelee's bridal shower at Robbie's parents' home and then he and I are going to stay down there for the night instead of driving back to Columbus and then driving back down there Sunday morning for church. It will just be easier this way. I love Robbie's family and look forward to seeing them all this weekend! They are just precious! :-)
-Macy stayed with Nana while we were at the lake this past weekend. They had a great time!
-I took a bunch of Macy's things...her carrier, two dresses, her overnight bag...to get monogrammed yesterday! I can't wait to see how they turn out!

My Robbie

I love this boy! Here are just a few reasons why:

1. He has the character of Christ and shows his love for me the same way that Christ shows His love for his church.
2. He makes me get on the road to go home before it gets dark, because he worries about me driving by myself at night.
3. He endures my many trips to the pet stores to buy new things for Macy.
4. He loves me just the way I am.
5. He never lets me pump my own gas.
6. He gives me sweet kisses on my forehead, and he's always reaching for my hand when we are in the car together.
7. Speaking of, he always lets me control the AC and radio in the car, and he always lets me have the remote control, too.
8. He has the sweetest family ever, and he treats them with respect and admiration.
9. He makes it his job to calm my fears and insecurities.
10. He makes random trips to the store for me.
11. He gets nervous about being around my Daddy, because he really wants them to have a good relationship.
12. He doesn't just tell me that he loves me, he SHOWS me that he does.
13. He says the most heartfelt blessings each time we sit down to eat.
14. He is the most amazing person that I have ever met in my life.
15. He has proved me wrong, because I never thought that a love like this truly existed! He is my dream come true! :-)

Columbus Bound

I am headed down to Columbus after school today to see my sweetheart. We are going to dinner with Robbie's parents tomorrow night. We'll go to church Sunday and then go eat lunch with his family at his grandparents' house. I am so looking forward to some time with my sweet Robbie! What a blessing he is to me, and I am so thankful that the Lord has brought him in to my life. I am amazed at this wonderful man. Next weekend, we will spend the weekend at the lake with my Dad, Mom, brother, and sister in law. We will leave on Friday and come back on Monday. We are really looking forward to this! :-)

Five school days are left. It is so hard to believe that I will soon be entering my third year of teaching. It seems like just yesterday that I was walking across the stage at KSU for my graduation. How time does fly! I am so ready for summer. I love my students and will miss them, but I know that we are all ready for a break. I am ready to have some days of rest and relaxation by the pool! Speaking of, I got TWO swimsuits last night at Aeropostale for $16 each!!! I was so excited for myself! There's nothing like a good deal!

Well, I'm off to Columbus for a weekend with my sweetness. I can't wait to see him! :-)

-Tomorrow morning, I have a meeting to attend with some friends of mine.
-Tomorrow at 2PM is Lauren and Lindy's 7th birthday party! They are growing up way too quickly!
-Tomorrow night, I'll be going out in Kennesaw for dinner.
-Sunday will be church, then Bible study at Church of the Apostles with my sweet Britt! YAY!

Macy's First Trip To The Vet!!!

Macy made her first visit to the vet on Friday after school. She currently weighs one pound and nine ounces. She is a real chunk, let me tell you! She is perfectly healthy! There was only one minor problem in that she has too much yeast in her ears. Our vet said that this is common with new puppies. He gave us some drops that he said should clear it right up. I have to do them morning and night, three drops each time. She has done really great with them so far. She is eating very well and sleeps great too. She has also done exceptionally well with using the potty outside; there have only been a couple of accidents. When we take her outside, she squats right down and takes care of her business. I have been so proud of her!

On another note, when I went to pick up Macy last week, there was only one girl left in the litter. Well, I sent pictures of Macy to my aunt and she showed them to her friend, Lisa, who she works with. Lisa went crazy and actually went on Friday and bought Macy's sister!!!!! So, Macy's sister lives just down the road from us now! They named her Bella Noelle Dobson and will call her Bella. She looks just like Macy, and I was so glad to hear that Macy's sister will have a great home!!! Lisa and I have already been chatting about getting them together for play dates! Haha! We think that they would really love that!!!

Macy has been such a blessing to me already, and I am so thankful to have her! She loves to snuggle right up close to me, which of course I have no complaints about! Brigsby is getting warmed up to her as well! Oh, and Trent just thinks that she is the funniest thing ever! He just laughs at everything that she does!

A Few Random Things Going On...

1. I adore my sweet, new friend Brittany. God knew we needed each other, and he placed us in each other's lives at the most perfect time possible. B-SQUARED!
2. 19 days of school left!
3. Mom and Dad got me, Bubba, and Christa new fishing gear for Easter! We are all ready for the lake at the end of May!
4. Cheer try-outs at WHS are this week. Looking forward to a great year!
5. Lauren and Lindy's 7th birthday is Thursday! I cannot believe it! How time flies!
6. Trent has been sick with a double ear infection. He is a lot better, but still not 100%.
7. I have been so excited to meet many new friends over the past two weeks. It's always great to meet new friends!
8. I am so thankful for MARY and the many lessons that I have learned from that sweet woman's life.
9. I am going to the Shine Down concert at the Tabernacle next Tuesday with Ben! Julie refused to go, so I'm going in her place! Haha! I love my "big bro" Ben!
10. The Duck Derby is coming up on May 16th- always love going to the Duck Derby!
11. I adore my family and friends who were there for me during one of the toughest weeks of my life just a couple of weeks ago. Everyone knew just what to say and when to say it.
12. I had a great time at the Dogwood Festival and the Sweetwater Festival with Brit (and our many new friends) last weekend!
13. I am loving the singles Bible study at Church of the Apostles. I have been the last two weeks with Brit and am absolutely loving it, learning so much, and meeting some awesome new people!

Did I mention that there are only 19 days of school left? Oh yeah, I think I did, but it's definitely worth repeating!

That's right! Another Maltese has been added to the Baggett family! Brigsby now has a little sister! He is already a great big brother to little Macy. Macy weighs just over 1 pound but will grow to be about 5 pounds full grown! She is 7 weeks old. She is playful, eating well, sleeping well, and 100% sweet!!! She loves to snuggle and sleep right up close to me! Macy will be taking her first trip to the vet tomorrow to get all checked out. It's Monday Once Again...

-Mondays are no fun. When my alarm went off this morning, I was not a happy camper.
-DANCING WITH THE STARS tonight!!! I love it!!!
-Nana's 83rd birthday is Thursday. We are all going out for dinner in Rome!
-Spring Break is 9 days away. Will I make it???
-I am having Trent's pictures made over Spring Break at Portrait Innovations. This will be a surprise for my Mom and Carrie for Mother's Day. They have NO clue! SHHHH!! Don't tell!
-Trent has the "army crawl" mastered. Now if he can just start getting up on those knees!
-Daddy found Christa and I both a pink fishing rod this weekend! Yeah! We are so excited about our week at the lake this summer!
-I have decided that I'm going to get another DOG!! I want to get another maltese poodle just like Brigsby, but I'm going to get a girl this time so I'll have one of both. Brigsby needs a sibling! I have just started looking, so it may take a while to find one at a good price, but we'll see. I am very excited! I already have her name picked out! :-)
-I am going to start tanning this week. I can't stand looking at this pale skin anymore!!
-One of our Kindergarten students lost her dad in a tragic accident last Wednesday. Her sister is in 1st grade at WES too, and she has a younger sister as well. The girls will not be back to school for another week. Please remember this family in your thoughts and prayers. Such a devastating loss. I can't even imagine.
-Brenton and Christa's first anniversary is in a couple of weeks. They are going to Pigeon Forge to celebrate! YAY for one year of wedded bliss!
-I'm still on the diet. I weighed in this morning for the first time, and I lost 2 pounds last week, and that was without exercising! I wasn't able to exercise for most of the week b/c I had strep, so I'm looking forward to seeing how much I lose this week with exercise! Yeah! It's working!
-Looking forward to cooking a healthy dinner tonight. Grilled chicken, lima beans, and half of a baked potato...all within my diet! Yum Yum!
-I ordered me a shirt to wear for Cowyboy/Cowgirl Day in a couple of weeks. It is so cute.

Ready for what this week may bring! :-)

Everything goes in the mouth these days! We are still teething!

Trent is fascinated by remote controls! He also LOVES my cell phone!

Wearing his new kicks; I found them at Old Navy for $6, and they are ADORABLE!

I got Trent this toy for Christmas, and it was a great investment, because he LOVES it! He loves to push the buttons that light up and make it sing! :-)

Headed Back to KSU....But Not For My Master's!!

I have always been interested in interior design. I absolutely love it and have so much fun with it. Decorating my entire apartment last summer was heaven on earth for me! I have always wanted to learn more about it and possibly do it some on the side. However, it's always been one of those things that I thought I would never have the chance to do. BUT, last week, I decided that I am going to make it happen! You only live once! So, I started checking online for classes and such! I found out that KSU offers "Leisure and Life Enrichment Classes". Anyone can take them. You don't have to be KSU alumni. They have everything from photography classes, to cooking classes, to ballroom dance classes (which I think would be totally cool to do) to writing classes, etc. Pretty much anything you can think of! So, I found a class on Interior Design for Beginner's. I checked it out and read more about it and got SO excited!! It sounds awesome and is just what I have been looking for! So, I took the plunge and signed up! It is 5 weeks long and on Monday evenings. I am SO excited! The first class will be April 13th. If I like this class, then they have more interior design classes starting this summer that will be an extension off of this class. That would be awesome to do while I am out of school for the summer! I can't wait to get started with this and see where it goes! :-)

"The Climb"

Miley Cyrus' new song...I just love it.

"The Climb"

I can almost see it
That dream I'm dreaming
But there's a voice inside my head sayin
You'll never reach it

Every step I'm taking
Every move I make
Feels lost with no direction

My faith is shaking but
I got to keep trying
Got to keep my head held high

Chorus:
There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna want to make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes you're gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb...

The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes they knock me down
But I'm not breaking
The pain I'm knowing
But these are the moments that
I'm going to remember most, yeah
Just to keep on going
And I got to be strong
Just keep on pushing on

Chorus:
There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna want to make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Sometimes you're gonna have to lose
Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb...

Keep on moving
Keep climbing
Keep the faith, baby
It's all about, it's all about the climb
Keep the faith
Keep your faith

Strep Throat...How Nice

So, I started feeling a bit yucky this weekend. I woke up yesterday morning to get ready for school and felt VERY yucky. I went on to school but made a doctor's appointment for after school. Well...went to the doctor and TA DA!!!......strep throat. How fun, how nice, how wonderful. No, I don't think so. So, I am now on anti-biotics and at home in my bed wishing I was at school for all of the fun St. Patty's Day festivities with my sweet kiddos. AND...I won't get to wear my cute St. Patrick's Day shirt that I got. This is not good. I am totally bummed and really hope the fever goes away so I can go back to school tomorrow. Doctor said take two days off, but if I'm better, I'm going back tomorrow. I do not like missing work.

Okay, I'm done whining.

It's Monday...Only 4 Days Until Friday!!

-Browsed our book fair this morning at school and made out my wish list. There's some good stuff!
-Going to another baby consignment sale this weekend; Trent Bug is a little spoiled!
-Need to start tanning VERY badly! I might start this week.
-Just a few more Cheer Warrior practices until the big pep rally. Things are coming along nicely.

-Still going strong on the diet...but I still don't like it.
-I've been brainstorming ideas of re-arranging my classroom next year. It needs a new look; going to change out where my desk is and where the kids tables are.
-This weather is insane. Snow two weekends ago, sunny last weekend, and rain all this weekend. WHAT???
-Got to see little Ethan yesterday. Just love that kiddo. He's too cute. His mom is pretty cool, too! :-)

-We have really been digging in to some of our Science standards, and it has been so fun to teach!!
-Hope the weekend hurries and gets here!!

Taco Soup Recipe...This Is For You, Ingrid! :-)

I made a yummy taco soup this weekend. It is a Weight Watchers version, so it's healthy, too! It was super easy, super quick, and was still great when I re-heated it the next day. My bestie, Ingrid, asked about the recipe, so I decided to post it on the blog for everyone. Try it out sometime! :)

For all you Weight Watchers people, 1 cup of this soup= 1 point.

Taco Soup

1 lb. ground beef
1 lg. onion, chopped
3 cans Mexican style chili beans, undrained (or you can substitute in black beans...your choice)
1 can whole kernel corn, undrained
1 can chopped tomatoes, undrained
1 and 1/2 cups water
1 can tomato sauce
1 can chopped green chile, undrained
1 package taco seasoning mix
1 package ranch style salad dressing mix (dry)

-Brown beef and drain.
-Stir in all other ingredients.
-Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, covered.

Sounds easy enough, right??!!

Hope you all try it out and enjoy it as much as I did! :-)

Rainy Weekend...

Trent Bug riding in the car on the way home from dinner...

Mom and Trent Bug before Lucy's birthday party

It has been a rainy, gloomy weekend so far! Tomorrow is supposed to be more of the same. I'm wondering where the beautiful spring weather went???? I wanted to ride my bike this weekend, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. Trent Bug has spent the last couple of nights with me, so he has made it more fun than it would have been. He is simply amazing...learning new things each day, and it's SUCH a blessing to sit back and watch. Right now we have patty cake completely mastered. He is eating more and more, and it won't be long before we will be eating small bites of table food. Mom and Dad are excited about that b/c the formula and baby food is getting more and more expensive with him eating more! We are so incredibly crazy about him! What a blessing in my life at just the right time...

This time next week, Kaci and I will be tearing it up at the Mall of GA. I'm SO excited! I haven't been on a major shopping spree in a while...

Mom, Trent, and I went to Buttons n Bows yesterday. WOW! What deals there were! We walked away with tons of spring/summers outfits for him. Seriously, some of them were like a dollar and were great name brands and look like they'd never even been worn. We have basically his whole spring/summer wardrobe covered. We were so excited about it all! We are looking forward to going to another sale next weekend to check on a couple of more things for him. We are now in love with baby consignment sales! After the sale, Mom, Brenton, Trent, and I had lunch together at Cracker Barrel. It was so fun to just be together and hang out! Brenton is crazy about Trent Bug, and Trent Bug is crazy about him. It is fun to watch them together. I maintained my diet and had grilled chicken with green beans. It was YUMMY!

I also just made a yummy taco soup. It is a Weight Watchers recipe. I checked with Julie before making it to make sure that I could have it with the diet and all. Turns out, I could! All the ingredients were in my diet. It was sooooooo good on this cold, rainy day. My parents came by on their way home and my dad took some with him. He tasted and liked it too, so he wanted some for later. I have some left over, so that will make a nice lunch for school on Monday. I love yummy meals that are within my diet!!

WHS Cheer Banquet was Thursday night. It was fun to see everyone again. We had a great meal! We got some awesome new T-shirts that have "State Champs" on the back. The girls also got the coaches a beautiful framed picture of the team at state, and the booster club gave the coaches some cash...which is ALWAYS nice! Those were some nice surprises that I didn't expect. I was able to sit and chat for a while with the girl that I will be coaching with next year, and she seems really sweet. Try-outs are in a little over a month, and we will have competition camp in June. I love summer work-outs as well. That was a lot of fun last summer, and I really look forward to it this summer!

Well, I am going to cozy up with little Brigsby and watch a movie. There's really nothing better to do on a rainy, gloomy day like today!

I'm Dieting...But I Don't Have To Like It!

The weekend is approaching, and I am so thankful for that. The time change has been especially difficult to adjust to. By the time I get home in the afternoon, I am wiped out. I have napped almost every day this week.

Well...I have given in to the world of dieting. My parapro, Mrs. Cagle, and I have decided to have a little competition to see who can lose the most the quickest. She is getting ready for her son's wedding this summer and wants to lose a few pounds. I am just getting ready for summer and would love to drop about ten pounds. We will weigh in with our school nurse each Friday. Today is my first real day on the diet, and it's not been too bad so far. For breakfast, I had a Weight Watchers muffin. Lunch was a turkey sandwich, two pickle spears, and a small cup of sugar free jello. Dinner will be grilled chicken with green beans. I am doing the unthinkable and sacrificing some of my beloved Dr. Peppers. I've decided that I'm not going to give them up altogether- b/c that would be unrealistic for me- but I'm just going to cut down. This diet is all about sensible eating; many people that I know have been successful on it, so maybe I will to. I usually can drop weight pretty easily when I want to, so hopefully it won't be too hard.

The kids at school have major spring fever and so does their teacher! I can't stand that my classroom doesn't have an outside door or any windows. It would be so nice to be able to see this gorgeous weather outside instead of staring at four walls all day. By the end of the day, I just want to be OUTSIDE!!! It's so refreshing to get outside after work. I hope to be able to get outside this weekend a lot and ride my bike. It's so fun and great exercise, and I am really loving it so far. I am glad that I found it on sale, too!

The week before CRCT, we are having spirit days at school. We will have Cowboy Day, Tacky Twin Day, and Super Hero Day. I already have my Superman shirt for Superhero Day. Mrs. Cagle, JJ, and I are going to modify Tacky Twin Day into Tacky Triplet Day and all dress the same. I'm excited about that; it will be hilarious!! For Cowboy Day, I might just have to go buy those cowgirl boots that I've been wanting...and of course a cowgirl hat to go with it. We will see. I hope that most of the other teachers will participate too, because the kids will really love it if they do.

Tomorrow I have the day off. I have a doctor's appointment, then Mom and I are going to Buttons n Bows- the big baby consignment sale at the Church at Liberty Square. We are on the hunt for Trent a few items. A stroller, a front facing car seat, and some summer clothes are what we are mainly looking for. Hope we can find them at good prices! This is always a great consignment sale, so I'm sure we'll maybe have some good luck there.

I am still trying to decide about Spring Break. It is in three weeks. I would really like to go somewhere, but I really need to save the money, and it would also be nice to have a week at home to get ahead on some spring cleaning and just relax. Who knows? I may up and go somewhere at the last minute. I guess only time will tell.

46 School Days Until Summer...YAY!!!

What's Been Going On This Week

-Only 51 school days left until summer!
-Brenton and Christa's first anniversary is coming up on April 5th. I can't believe that they have been married a year already!
-We are planning to take Trent to the park this weekend. It is going to be beautiful, and he loves being outside!
-We are making green milkshakes at school for St. Patty's Day! I love St. Patty's Day; it's a lot of fun. I have my St. Patty's Day shirt ready! Nobody will be able to pinch me! :)
-Mom and Dad are in the midst of planning our week at the lake. It looks like we will go around the first of June. We will rent a condo at Lake Weiss for the week like last summer. It was an absolute BLAST, so we are really looking forward to going again. Dad is in search of Christa and I new fishing rods before we go. We both love fishing so much and can really hang with the boys when it comes to catching the fish. Of course, little Brigsby will be making the trip with us again this year! Dad is renting us jet skis too! YAY!
-I love my parapro, Mrs. Cagle. School would not be the same without her. I am INCREDIBLY thankful for her friendship and guidance.
-The Bachelor finale was TERRIBLE. I am never watching again! Right, Ingrid and Jen?!
-Lauren, Lindy, and Chandler are such blessings to me. They can turn a bad day around in a second. Love those kiddos to pieces. Just talking to them on the phone brightens many days for me.
-To buy a house or not to buy a house: that is the question!! I'm majorly pondering that...
-Mall of GA on the 21st with Kaci; we are on the hunt for spring/summer clothes! Shopping really is the best therapy, right Kac?
-Kindergarten Planning Day was Wednesday and was really fun! We got to have lunch at Chili's and had a great time telling stories and laughing together. I love to laugh.
-I love my big brother. I mean, I simply adore that boy. It's the little things that he does for me that mean the most. He'll never know how much he means to me.
-Patience is a lesson that I seem to continually be learning.
-My Nana will be 83 this month. She still gets around with the best of them. Love her bunches.
-The Lord is still the captain of the ship that is my life...even when I don't understand what He's doing. I know one day I will though, so I'm pressing forward... even when it seems impossible to do so.
-Ju is the big sister that I never had. Oh, how thankful I am for her (and Ben too). I can't think of a time that she's not been there when I needed her. I hope that's the kind of friend that I am to others.
-My uncle JD is very sick with cancer. I love him to pieces and am very concerned. My thoughts are continually with him (and my Aunt Lucille) throughout my days.
-Did I mention that there are only 51 school days left until summer??!!

Winter Break Is Almost Here...

We will have a four day school week this week and next week as well. We are out of school on Friday and Monday for Winter Break. This will be SO nice! And, it's Valentine's weekend, so that makes it even better. I am really excited about Valentine's Day this year...the most excited that I've been about it in a very long time. Such a nice change...

Little Trent Bug spent the night with me on Saturday night, and we had a fun time! I love just laying in bed with him and playing. There's nothing better than when he first wakes up. I go get him from his crib and put him in the bed with me, and he's always in the happiest mood. On Sunday evening, Mom, Dad, and I took him to the park to swing and slide. I slid down the slide with him and he loved it, but he REALLY loved swinging. He laughed out loud so many times, and I got some really cute pictures. This weekend, I also bought his first pair of shoes for summer. They are so cute; got them from Old Navy for $7! Now I am on the lookout for him some swimming trunks, b/c I plan on spending some time with him at the pool this summer. I think he'll love it! Brenton came over last night to see Trent and played with him for a while. Trent loved it and is crazy about Brenton.

We have a new Mexican restaurant that opened this weekend that is literally two minutes from my house. I am SO excited about this, because there is not really anything that close to me. Mom, Dad, Trent, and I went last night to try it out, and we are so excited that it was so good, and the people were very friendly. I'm looking forward to going again soon. It's so nice to have something close by now!

I am REALLY ready for a vacation. It has been TOO long! I hope to go somewhere over Spring Break. I've been to Savannah once, but I was very young, and I don't remember much about it. I'd really love to go there again; I hear it is beautiful, and I really want to go to Paula Deen's restaurant. Both my brother and grandmother have been recently and said it is AMAZING! I love Paula Deen; she is such a hoot! I might try to make a trip to Savannah over the break; that's what I'm thinking right now, but of course that could change.

I'm already getting spring fever. I'm ready to plant flowers again. I love doing that. The weather this past weekend really made me long for spring. It is by far my favorite season, and I'm ready for it to get here. I enjoy sitting on my porch and reading in the evenings. I love taking Brigsby for walks. It's just a great time of year!

Rainy Day

It's really rainy outside today...a very dreary day! On top of that, I'm feeling under the weather with a lovely head cold. I just love head colds...kidding. I feel pretty rotten and really just want to curl up in my warm bed and sleep for a long time! That sounds so nice right about now. Hopefully, this cold will start getting better soon; it really is no fun.

January is such a long month. Teachers have to go for about 6 weeks between paychecks for December and January due to the holiday break. We get paid on Friday, and I am more than ready! The cash flow is pretty low at the moment, but I was prepared for it, so it hasn't been all that bad really. I am ready for winter break in a couple of weeks. For whatever reason, I could really use a couple of days off. As of right now, I am planning to just be home. Though traveling is fun, staying home and relaxing sounds pretty nice as well. Besides, Ingrid is due to have Ethan during winter break, and I certainly am not going to miss that! I have been in the mood for a trip lately, but I think that I will wait and take that on spring break, because I will have more time anyway. I'm not sure where I want to go yet, but I have a few ideas.

I bought myself a new laptop, and I am loving it so far. It is a Dell, and it is really sharp! I was in desperate need of a new computer, so it was a long time coming, and I am excited. I also got a new cell phone through my cousin, Shawn, who is an AT&T consultant. He really helped me out, and I love my new Matrix phone. It was so much easier to go through him rather than dealing with the people at the stores. I just went to his house on a Sunday evening, picked out the phone that I liked, and he took care of the rest. It was really cool. He also hooked Brenton and Christa up with their new phones after they were married.

We have parent conferences next Thursday night until 7 PM. That is always the longest day ever, and I am usually exhausted when I get home. I do enjoy catching up with my students' parents and sharing with them about their child's progress. There is always an excitement to see how the kids are coming along...and they really are! I am really pleased with how my students are doing right now. Writing and Math are going REALLY well, and I am excited about that. After last year, I did a lot of self-reflection and saw some areas that I could improve my teaching in Math, and I have put those changes in place this year, and Math really couldn't be going any better for my kids right now. I am excited about that!

Half Way to Summer...

WOW! Half way done with my second year of teaching! That's completely amazing to me!! It seems just yesterday that I was a ball of nerves for my very first day teaching. I remember it so well. I couldn't hardly drive to school that morning, because I was so incredibly nervous. I remember getting some good advice for those first few days..."Even if you don't know what you're doing, just make it look like you do.". I really did live by those words there at the very beginning! Now, it's a different story. I am completely comfortable with my kiddos, and things run pretty smoothly for us each day.

I really do enjoy my job so much. These kids are some of the funniest people that I know. They can turn a bad day into a good one just by the funny things that they say. It's so cool even just in the middle of the year to see how far they have come since I've had them. The end result really does make it all worth it; it's so fulfilling to be a part of their learning and progression as little beings.

Trent is starting to sit up now. We have to be ready to catch him if he falls over, but he's just about got it. He's teething again now too, so he has been a bit more fussy. What a joy he is to our family! This little boy is a blessing from heaven, and I don't think any of us cease to give thanks to the Lord for blessing our lives with his precious life. I know that I am thankful that through difficult circumstances, God knows just how to handle them in the most perfect way. Brenton and I have surely taken on the big brother and big sister roles; Dad is amazing with him, and Mom always knows what to do to make him as happy as possible. Brenton and Daddy constantly fight over which team he will like: Georgia or Alabama? Of course, my vote is UGA all the way! Brenton got him a little Bama football for Christmas, and Daddy got him some Georgia gear too. Hopefully, he will turn in to a little Bulldog as he grows up!

I'm looking forward to the birth of my best friend, Ingrid's little bundle of joy, Ethan. He is due in just about 5 weeks, and he's sure to be a beautiful little boy! Ingrid has done a great job on his nursery; it is just adorable! I can't wait to be in the hospital waiting room and the excitement of his arrival. "Aunt Brooke" can't wait to hold little Ethan!!! Love you, Ingrid...and tell Ethan to hurry up, we are ready to meet him! :)

I have pictures from Christmas that I need to load on my computer that I will post soon! :)

New Year's

I've never been one to make New Year's resolutions, but I do have personal life goals that are on-going. I think it's important to have goals and a clear vision as to what direction you want your life to go. Below are just a few things that I'd love to accomplish in my life...

1. Travel across Europe
2. Learn Spanish
3. Adopt a child from a foreign country
4. Be a special education teacher
5. Be on a game show (The Price is Right or Deal or No Deal preferably)
6. Live in a loft
7. Work in interior design as a side job
8. Learn more about photography
9. Be a great cook
10. Be a great wife and mother

Just a few things that I have dreams of doing...

Happy New Year!
